Bar R Sanjirou 4P – son of World K’s acclaimed bull WKS Sanjirou – has been an integral part of the Lone Mountain Bull Battery since his purchase in March 2006.
Sanjirou, born June 28, 1994 at Hawkeye Breeders in Adel, Iowa, has the potential to become one of the most influential sires of the Tajima line, having great meat quality, large ribeye area, thick rib and high yields. WKS Sanjirou is a linebred Yasumi Doi J10328 bull. Yasumi Doi, widely known for his ability to produce excellent meat quality, sired Yasutanidoi J472 and grandsired both Fukutsuru 068 and Yasufuku J930. Sanjirou is out of the prominent Japanese cow Suzutani, who represents one of the most potent bloodlines in Japan.
Suzutani’s sire was Tanishige 1526, whose progeny test results demonstrate that he has heritable traits with a BMS score +3.1 (above the national average of +2.1) and a yield grade of 72.7 percent. Suzutani’s dam, Suzunami, was sired by Shigeshigenami J10632 (though largely unknown in the United States he has a reputation for producing some of the best genetics in Japan and in the U.S. – e.g., Shigeshigetani).
Sanjirou 4P’s dam sire, JVP Fukutsuru 068, is perhaps the most famous Wagyu sire in U.S. history, and certainly a prime example of Tajima bloodlines. He leads all sires in marbling in all the U.S. Wagyu Sire Summaries published by Washington State University, outpacing all other Wagyu sires by a broad margin, since its first publication in 1999.
In the April 2017 Group BREEDPLAN Report, calculated using data from over 60,000 Wagyu Sires and Dams, and 4,711 FB Wagyu carcasses, Bar R Sanjirou 4P ranks in the top 1% for Marbling Fineness (+0.38); in the top 5% for IMF% EPD (+1.0); and in the top 10% for Fullblood Terminal Index (+$230). In the 2017 Lone Mountain Sire Performance Study, Sanjirou 4P is 4th highest ranked Dam Sire for IMF% (31.18% – with 17 carcasses imaged) and 6th for REA (14.21”2).
Unfortunately, Sanjirou 4P is no longer able to produce freeze-able semen – so he is listed here as our primary Reference Sire. He is still active in our herd as a cover bull, however – but the stock of his semen is no longer available.

LMR Yojimbo 634S was the sale topper at the First Lone Mountain Production Sale, selling for $35,000. He is currently ORIgen’s top selling Wagyu sire.
Yojimbo has outstanding pedigree credentials: on the sire side, Fukutsuru 068 (#1 Marbling Sire in US Wagyu Sire Summary), and on the dam side, Yasufuku J930, whose name appeared in the pedigrees of all three winners and three runners-up in the 2001 All-Japan Wagyu Contest. Yojimbo’s dam, BR Ms Yasufuku 0609, is one of Lone Mountain’s top donors – producing 21 calves – and was sired by Yasufuku Jr who has proven excellence as a dam sire in the Lone Mountain herd. “In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, Yasufuku Jr is the 2nd highest ranked dam sire for IMF%, with an average 34.08% based on 36 actual carcass images, and 1st for Marbling Fineness (32.48). In addition, Yasufuku Jr is the highest ranked Sire for IMF% (32.74% based on 36 carcasses.)
Yojimbo’s own carcass progeny have consistently performed well. In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, Yojimbo is the #5 Sire for IMF% (30.68% IMF based on 20 images), and 4th for Marble Fineness (30.73).
LMR Yojimbo 634S BREEDPLAN figures show him in the top 5% for both Ribeye EBV (+3.5) and Rump Fat EBV (+2.3).
Yojimbo was euthanized in April 2016 due to cancer. He graded a Frame Score of 5 before his death. An example of Yojimbo’s prowess as a sire is pictured above (8155U).

LMR Kenichi 807T is a 2007-born WKS Michifuku son, exhibiting top ribeye and growth. 807T is a brilliant composite bull, a Tajima/Itozakura/Shimane cross. Sired by Michifuku, the superb, 100% Tajima carcass sire imported from Japan, Kenichi 807T was named in honor of the exceptional writer Kenichi Ono (who wrote the classic text on Wagyu, Elite Wagyu of Japan).
807T’s sire, WKS Michifuku was sired by Monjiro 11550, listed by Kenichi Ono as #7 on his list of the top 15 most outstanding Wagyu of Japan. Monjiro, sired by Yasumi Doi J10328, was born March 15, 1981 in Hyogo Prefecture and was the 11th calf by his dam, Harumi. Monjiro, originally named Harutoshi 2, was just a yearling when he won the number two spot at the Zenkyo (All-Japan Wagyu Show) and was auctioned for $160,000. Michifuku’s dam, Michiko J655635, was sired by Tanishige 1526, grandsired by Yasutani Doi J472 and great-grandsired by Yasumi Doi J10328.
807T’s maternal side is linebred to Dai 7 Itozakura, a Japanese bull listed as the #2 Sire, following only Yasufuku J930 in Ono’s tome. 807T’s grand- dam sire, Kenryu is a highly regarded bull from Shimane Prefecture. His dam, WKS Nakazakura, is a half-sib of Jerry Reeves’ highly regarded Bar R Nakagishiro 56T.
LMR Kenichi 807T has 34 progeny recorded with the US registry. In Australia 25 offspring of LMR Kenichi 807T have been analyzed in BREEDPLAN. 807T’s influence when bred over Shigeshigetani-sired females have performed well (pictured).
LMR Kenichi 807T has a worthy set of carcass BREEDPLAN figures. He is top 1% for Rib Fat EBV (+2.1), and Rump Fat EBV (+4.2) and in the top 5% for Ribeye Area EBV (+3.6). Noting his SCD Tenderness grade of VA 10, 807T is the sire of record for LMR Hayao 5549C, an AA 10 Sire, also listed in this guide.
His nickname – Dynamite – was given to 807T by the staff for his scrappiness when other bulls encroach on his turf. He is qualified for US, Mexico and South Africa sales only. LMR Kenichi 807T has been tested free for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is VA and a Tenderness Score of 10.
LMR Ichiban 810T, a full brother of LMR Kenichi 807T, and a half-sib to both LMR Kazuki 770T and LMR Ms Sanjirou 767T, was sired by WKS Michifuku.
WKS Michifuku was sired by Monjiro 11550, listed by Kenichi Ono as #7 on his list of the top 15 most outstanding Wagyu of Japan. Monjiro, sired by Yasumi Doi J10328, was born March 15, 1981 in Hyogo Prefecture and was the 11th calf by his dam, Harumi.
Michifuku’s dam, Michiko J655635, was sired by Tanishige 1526, grandsired by Yasutani Doi J472 and great-grandsired by Yasumi Doi J10328.
Yasumi Doi J10328 also grandsired Yasufuku J930, and appears twice in Michifuku’s pedigree. Yasumi Doi J10328 and Yasutani Doi J472 are considered to be two of the most famous of the Tajima/ Tajiri line. This lineage supports Michifuku’s high regard.
810T’s dam, WKS Nakazakura, was born in Japan in 1994 – she was the daughter of WKS Nakagishi 5 and both were imported to the US by Mannett that same year. Nakazakura’s sire, Itomichi J1158 was left behind in the Mother Country.
Nakazakura’s pedigree is worth a deeper look: her sire, Itomichi J1158 also sired Itomichi 1-2 and was a very influential sire in Takeda-san’s herd (being the patriarch of a line of cows that produced Itoshigefuji TF147, Itohana 2, Mitsuhikokura TF149 and many others). Nakazakura’s paternal grandsire was Dai 7 Itozakura – a sire so famous that a phone card bearing his likeness was produced in Japan – his genetics are widely represented in the West by the progeny of his sons: Itofuji J483 (Itoshigefuji TF147), Kitaguni 7 8 (WKS Kitaguni Jr), Itohana J809 (TF Itohana 2 and TF Kikuhana), and Itokitazuru J1081 (Itozuru-Doi TF151).
LMR Ichiban 810T’s untimely death in 2010 prevented him from witnessing the success his offspring would bring to the Lone Mountain battery, but we are fortunate to have collected him and now are able to offer a limited supply of semen.
LMR Ichiban 810T has been tested free for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is VA.
WKS-LMR Michifuku 3500A’s maternal grandsire is Shigeshigenami J10632, the sire of Itoshigenami TF148 and Suzunami (WKS Suzutani’s dam, herself renowned as the dam of both WKS Sanjirou and WKS Shigeshigetani). Tajima breeding consists of three lines: Kumanami, Naka-Doi and Oku-Doi. A bull named Shigeshigenami is the reason the Kumanami line is on that elite list.
Shigeshigenami J10632, born in 1972 in Hyogo, was originally named Masaki, but the name was changed when the prefecture bought him as a prospective sire. (However, a year after Hyogo Prefecture purchased it, Shigeshigenami was sold to Yodomi-san, a calf grower, who entered him in a Miyagi auction in June 1974 – he was purchased for the then unbelievable price of 4.5 million yen, by the prefecture. By the time of his death in 1980, almost 30% of all Wagyu calves in Miyagi Prefecture had been sired by Shigeshigenami.) Shigeshigenami is ranked #4 by Kenichi Ono (following Yasufuku J930, Dai 7 Itozakura and Kitaguni 7/8) in his informed and enlightened book, Outstanding Wagyu of Japan: “Shigeshigenami is famous throughout Japan for increasing the quality of Wagyu cattle in Miyagi Prefecture.”
In addition, 3500A’s dam, HOK Nakahana 5 is a half-sib of WKS Nakayuki, the mother of WKS Kitaguni Jr. In the Wagyu breed it is wise to never underestimate the maternal influence.
With WKS-LMR Michifuku 3500A yet to reach his prime, 20 offspring and counting but no progeny yet ready for slaughter, he is an example of carcass potential that one can expect from an outstanding pedigree.
WKS-LMR Michifuku 3500A has an exemplary set of BREEDPLAN figures. He is in the top 5% for Ribeye EBV (+3.9), and the top 10% for Marble Score EBV (+0.8) and Marble Fineness EBV (+0.27).

LMR Sensei 817T is a son of Itozurudoi TF151, the great carcass bull, and out of an Itoshigenami TF148 dam.
Itozurudoi TF151’s sire, Itokitatsuru J1081 (Tottori), was a son of Dai 7 Itozakura (brother to Kitaguni7-8 J1530, Itomichi J1158, Itofuji J483, Itofuji J1711, Itohana J809, among many others). In addition to TF151, ItokitatsuruJ1081 also sired ItohirashigeJ1555, who sired ItomoritakaJ2703ETJ002. Itokitatsuru is mentioned several times in Volume III of Ono’s tome, and referred to as one of Dai 7’s most famous progeny.
ItoshigenamiTF148 was sired by Shigeshigenami – a double cross of Shigekanenami and therefore highly inbred in the Kumanami bloodline – the result of a father-daughter mating. The Shigeshigenami family is known for extremely potent marbling genes and is used to induce maternal traits while enhancing carcass quality. In fact, Kenichi Ono, author of Elite Wagyu of Japan, describes Shigeshigenami as the bull most representative of “meat-quality Wagyu.”
Itoshigenami is a medium-framed bull said to weigh 1,650 pounds with excellent conformation, he is 75% Tajima and 25% Itozakura and is being used extensively in the Lone Mountain Fullblood breeding program to induce maternal characteristics while enhancing carcass quality. Itoshigenami is one of the best Wagyu bulls available to breeders in the West – we strongly believe – and it is the prime reason we have used him to create several extraordinary herd sires: e. g., see LMR Aoichi 2468Z. TF148 has an astounding Fullblood Feedlot Index of +$375 ranking him in the top 1% of 208 Fullblood Wagyu sires calculated by BREEDPLAN, and +1.8 EBV for Marbling ranking him in the top 1%: he is the 3rd highest sire tested.
LMRSensei817T has an admirable set of BREEDPLAN figures; low birth, high milk, moderate growth and excellent carcass with finishing ability. He is in the top 5% for Marble Fineness EBV (+0.35) and Rib Fat EBV (+1.4); top 10% for Milk EBV (+6); and top 15% for Marble Score EBV (+0.7). He is a well-balanced “Group C” sire with commendable carcass attributes.
His semen is qualified for US, Mexico and South Africa. LMR Sensei 817T has been tested free for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is VA and a Tenderness Score of 5. Owned by Imperial Beef
WKS-LMR Michitsugu 3489A’s dam, World K’s Mitsutaka, is the only daughter of Mitsufuku J2748 outside Japan. Mitsufuku J2748, born in 1992, is the most famous progeny of his sire, Tanifuku-Doi J1606 – and one of the best of over 50 progeny produced by his dam, Mitsufuku 2 J509613 (a granddaughter of Tanifuku Doi), according to Kenichi Ono.
Tanifuku Doi was born on Mr. Nagase’s farm in Hyogo on March 8, 1985, sired by Yasutani Doi J472 and was the son of Kikutsuru J978542. Ono said, “Tanifukudoi’s high level of ability comes not only from his sire Yasutani Doi but also from his famous dam, Kikutsuru”. Tanifuku-Doi was the 16th and last calf of Kikutsuru and “the super star of Hyogo Prefecture whose offspring are the core of Japan’s Wagyu,” writes Ono. In his indirect progeny tests completed in 1990, Tanifuku Doi scored a record BMS 3.2.
Michifuku’s dam, Michiko J655635 was sired by Tanishige J1526 and grandsired by Yasutani-Doi J472 and great-grandsired by Yasumi Doi J10328. Yasumi Doi J10328 appears twice in Michifuku’s pedigree. Yasumi Doi J10328 and Yasutani Doi J472 are thought to be two of the most famous of the Tajima/Tajiri line. This lineage supports Michifuku’s high regard.
BREEDPLAN ranks Michifuku as a Trait Leader and above the top 1% for Ribeye Area (+7.6) and in the top 1% for three other performance traits: Retail Beef Yield (+1.2); Marble Score (+1.3); and Marble Fineness (+0.47). Attesting to Michifuku’s brilliance as a sire, see image of ribeye (4337B).
WKS-LMR Michitsugu 3489A has an exemplary set of BREEDPLAN figures. He is in the top 5% for Ribeye EBV (+4.0), in the top 10% for Marble Fineness EBV (+0.26) and ranked in the top 15% for both Rib Fat EBV (+0.9) and Marble Score EBV (+0.7).
WKS-LMR Michitsugu 3489A’s semen is qualified for export to the EU. While progeny of 3489A can be registered in the Australian Wagyu Association, as of this May 2017 printing, registration in the US Wagyu Association is “On Hold” (since August 2016).

LMR Kurosawa 5301C is the product of two distinguished Lone Mountain bulls: Bar R Sanjirou 4P and LMR Toshiro 1-3 723T. Kurosawa’s sire, Bar R Sanjirou 4P – son of World K’s acclaimed bull WKS Sanjirou – has been an integral part of the Lone Mountain Bull Battery since his purchase in March 2006.
WKS Sanjirou is a linebred Yasumi Doi J10328 bull. Yasumi Doi, widely known for his ability to produce excellent meat quality, sired Yasutani Doi J472 and grandsired both Fukutsuru 068 and Yasufuku J930. Sanjirou is out of the prominent Japanese cow Suzutani, who represents one of the most potent bloodlines in Japan. Suzutani’s dam, Suzunami, was sired by Shigeshigenami J10632.
In the April 2017 Group BREEDPLAN Report, calculated using data from over 60,000 Wagyu Sires and Dams, and 4,711 FB Wagyu carcasses, Sanjirou 4P ranks in the top 1% for Marbling Fineness (+0.38); in the top 5% for IMF% EPD (+1.0); and in the top 10% for Fullblood Terminal Index (+$230). In the 2017 Lone Mountain Sire Performance Study, Sanjirou 4P is 4th highest ranked Dam Sire for IMF% (31.18% – with 17 carcasses imaged) and 6th for REA (14.21”2).
Kurosawa 5301C’s dam sire was LMR Toshiro 723T, a Growth Trait Leader among all Wagyu Sires outside of Japan. With accuracy figures of 80%, 723T’s 200-day Weight EBV (+15) and 400-day Weight EBV (+32) are in the top 10% and top 5%, respectively, according to BREEDPLAN. 723T’s Carcass Weight EBV (+37) ranks him in the top 1% (testifying positively to this number, Lone Mountain has noted an average carcass weight of 1030 lbs). In addition, 723T’s excellent Milk EBV (+8), ranks him in the top 3% and his Fullblood Terminal Index of +$223 ranks him in the top 7% of the breed. In addition, Toshiro has sired eight 32%+ IMF steers for Lone Mountain. Attesting to Toshiro’s prowess as dam sire, see 3581A, pictured.
5301’s dam, LMR Ms Toshiro 9234W, ranks in the top 1% for both Milk (+9) and Carcass Weight (+34) and is one of our strongest performing 8 year olds.
With these illustrious genetics flowing through his body, it can well be expected that Kurosawa 5301C will be a superb carcass sire. TESTED FREE of all known Wagyu Conditions SCD: AA Tenderness: 7.
LMR Shunichi 5339C is sired by WKS Sanjirou and out of LMR Ms Itoshigenami 9223W. WKS Sanjirou is a linebred Yasumi Doi J10328 bull. Suzutani’s dam, Suzunami, was sired by Shigeshigenami.
In the April 2017 Group BREEDPLAN Report, calculated using data from over 60,000 Wagyu Sires and Dams, and 4,711 FB Wagyu carcasses, Shunichi 5339C’s half-sib Sanjirou 4P ranks in the top 1% for Marbling Fineness (+0.38); in the top 5% for IMF% EPD (+1.0); and in the top 10% for Fullblood Terminal Index (+$230). 5339C’s sire, WKS Sanjirou, in the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, is ranked 8th highest Sire for IMF (30.15%) based on actual, imaged carcass data for 13 FB carcasses. An example of that marbling, another half-sib of 5339C, is shown below (9304W).
5339C’s dam, 9223W, was sired by Itoshigenami TF148 and is thought to be one of the very best bulls exported from Japan. Itoshigenami TF148 was sired by Shigeshigenami – an elite sire of the Kumanami bloodline (key Tajima family). Shigeshigenami’s family has extremely potent marbling genes and he is widely known for significantly bolstering the quality of Wagyu in the Miyagi Prefecture. In fact, Kenichi Ono, author of Outstanding Wagyu in Japan, describes Shigeshigenami as the bull most representative of “meat-quality Wagyu.”
9223W has is ranked in the top 3% of the breed for both Marble Score EBV (+1.1) and FTI Index of $248. 5339C is another of the younger LMCC Bull Battery, assigned pedigree EBVs by BREEDPLAN ranking him in the top 2% for Ribeye EBV (+4.8) and in the top 5% for Marble Score (+0.9) of the Fullblood Wagyu herd (outside Japan). LMR Harukiro 5340C was sired by Kitateruyasudoi J2810 ETJ003 and out of one of our best donors, LMR Ms Itomichi-4632 803T.
Kitateruyasudoi was sired by Terunaga Doi J1472 – a preeminent sire of the historical Tajima/Tajiri line and the most famous son of Kikuteru Doi (who occupies both sides of ETJ003’s pedigree). Kitateruyasudoi also traces back to Yasumi Doi J10328 three times. Kenichi Ono referenced ETJ003’s sire, saying “After Terunaga Doi, there is no other bull within sight with the potential of Yasumi Doi or Yasutani Doi in all of Hyogo Prefecture.”
Terunaga Doi lived to be 16 1⁄2 years old, producing over 40,000 straws in his lifetime and over 20,000 progeny – a stone monument was built to honor his heritage. He was known all over Japan primarily as a dam sire, passing on great maternal traits. When he was euthanized in 2002, he was compared favorably to Yasumi Doi, Kikuteru Doi and Tanifuku Doi. Kitateruyasudoi J2810 (ETJ003) is the only son of Terunaga Doi available to breeders outside Japan.
BREEDPLAN figures demonstrate his abilities, ranking Kitateruyasudoi J2810 as a Trait Leader and in the top 2% for Birth Weight EBV (-1.6) and in the top 1% for Gestation Length EBV (-2.3). Kitateruyasudoi is in the top 1% for Marble Fineness EBV (+0.50) and in the top 2% for Marble Score EBV (+1.1).
Harukiro 5340C’s dam is LMR Ms Itomichi-4632 803T – we have harvested three of her steer calves – grading 41.01%; 30.09%; and 39.6% IMF. 803T’s sire, BR Itomich-0602 4632, we have found to be one of the best of the Blue Rock bull battery. Her dam sire, WKS Sanjirou, one of Michifuku‘s most well known sons, really needs no introduction, except to say that many consider him to be better than his sire. And that is saying a lot.
5340C is one of LMCC’s newest additions to our battery of bulls. He shows enormous potential as a young sire with BREEDPLAN pedigree figures ranking him in the top 5% of the breed with a Marble Score EBV (+1.0), Marble Fineness EBV (+0.34), and in the top 7% for Ribeye EBV (+2.9). 5340C has also been assigned an outstanding Birthweight EBV (-0.9), ranking him in the top 5% for the Wagyu breed.
