BAR R 12P Takazakura was the first bull purchased by Lone Mountain, in 2005, from Jerry Reeves, Bar R Cattle Company. A classically balanced bull, Bar R 12P is comprised of 54% Tajima-traced genes with the remainder being growth and maternal genetics.
12P’s sire, Bar R Takazakura 1K is ranked #4 for Carcass Weight and is tied with Bar R Shigeshigetani 30T in Marbling EPDs (#8) in the 2014 WSU Sire Summary. He is double-crossed to Fukutsuru JVP068 – the #1 Marbling US FB Wagyu Sire according to that same summary produced by Washington State University.
In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, 12P Takazakura ranks as the number 2 Dam Sire for Ribeye Area (14.33”2) based on 9 carcass images.
BAR R 12P Takazakura has a balanced set of BREEDPLAN figures for growth with impressive carcass data. He is positioned in the top value of the percentile band for Rib Fat EBV (+2.8) and Rump Fat EBV (+4.4). These results would indicate a strong relationship to finishing ability, early maturity, and improvement in fertility (increased cycling prevalence).
BAR R 12P Takazakura’s untimely death in 2007 (from noxious weed poisoning) was a loss to the Lone Mountain herd, but his influence lives on with many successful progeny and grand progeny, delivering a balance that we seek in this breed.

LMR Hiro 0195X is out of the outstanding World K’s bull, WKS Haruki II. 0915X has an Inbreeding Coefficient of 16% – the result of intensive linebreeding to Monjiro. He is a young, potent and powerful bull, and was used heavily as a Lone Mountain fullblood herd bull before being sold to Imperial Beef.
In Kenichi Ono’s influential Elite Wagyu of Japan, Monjiro is listed as the #7 Sire. Monjiro’s sire was the legendary Yasumi-Doi. In 1982, when Monjiro was just one year of age, he won the #2 spot at the Zenkyo (All-Japan Wagyu show). Monjiro was auctioned for $160,000 and was better in his prime (in Ono’s estimation) than both Yasufuku and Shigeshigenami were at their peaks. 0195X traces back to Monjiro in three of the four branches of the pedigree tree.
0195X’s dam sire, WKS Sanjirou, has the potential to become one of the most influential sires of the Tajima line, having great meat quality, large ribeye area, thick rib and high yields.
LMR Hiro 0195X has an exemplary set of BREEDPLAN figures. With 72% Tajima and 12% Kedaka genetics, 0195X has the potential to add great carcass characteristics to his offspring as shown in the most recent BREEDPLAN results. LMR Hiro 0195X ranks in the top 5% for REA with an EBV (+3.4) and Retail Beef Yield EBV (+4.0), and in the top 10% for Carcass Weight EBV (+23). He is also positioned in the top 15% for Marble Score EBV (+0.7). 0195X’s Fullblood Terminal Index (+$244) ranks him in the top 5% of the breed outside Japan.
His semen is qualified for export to: Australia, Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Panama, South Africa and others. Inquire at ORIgen for further information.
LMR Hiro 0195X has been tested free for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is VA and Tenderness of 7.

LMR Masahiko 1250Y is Lone Mountain’s go-to Yasufuku Jr herd sire, having sired 45 calves in his tenure thus far. WKS Yasufuku Jr has shown us the fineness, richness, and abundance of his marbling ability: he is #2 for IMF in Lone Mountain’s 2017 Sire Performance Study, as both sire and dam sire. WKS Yasufuku Jr averages 33.46% IMF with 36 carcasses imaged and data calculated by Dr. Kuchida’s software program. Yasufuku Jr is also the leading Dam Sire for Marble Fineness (32.48).
LMR Masahiko 1250Y’s dam sire is another power player in BR Itomichi-0602 4632, another great example from the Blue Rock (BR2) bull battery. In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, BR Itomichi-0602 4632 topped the Ribeye Area report for Dam Sire, with 14.86”2 based on 11 carcasses imaged and studied.
1250Y’s ability as a calving-ease sire is evidenced by his Birth Weight EBV (-0.2 vs. the breed average of +1.0 with an accuracy of 87%). 1250Y’s Ribeye (EMA) EBV has been calculated as +3.8, ranking him in the top 5% of the Wagyu breed outside Japan. He also sports an SCD AA.
LMR Masahiko 1250Y is free by parentage for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is AA and Tenderness of 5.
LMR Shichiro 2403Z was Lone Mountain’s go-to Shigeshigetani herd sire prior to his sale to Imperial Beef. WKS Shigeshigetani is thought to be fundamentally a marbling sire – but LMR is finding him to be a growth sire as well. Shigeshigetani is Sanjirou’s half-brother, but more closely bred than most half-siblings: Suzutani is the mother of both Shigeshigetani and Sanjirou. Shigeshigetani’s sire is Haruki II, half-brother of Michifuku, and both were sired by the same bull, Monjiro 11550). Monjiro 11550 is linebred to Tajima J105, great-grandsire of Yasumi Doi J10328. The combination of those two sires (Shigeshigetani & Kitaguni Jr) bodes for extraordinary balance – both growth and marbling in one tightly bonded package.
2403Z’s dam sire, WKS Kitaguni Jr is a calving-ease leader – a BREEDPLAN trait leader for Birth Weight EBV (-2.7) ranking him just behind WKS Yasufuku Jr (-3.1) and Fukutsuru JVP068 (-3.0) – in addition to bringing Marbling to the table (+1.4), ranking him in the top 1% for the breed outside Japan.
In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, Kitaguni Jr as Dam Sire places 1st for IMF (34.75% based on 16 carcass images) and 5th for Marble Fineness (30.44). Additionally, Kitaguni Jr ranks 4th for IMF (31.73% based on 61 carcass images studied) and ranks 5th for Marble Fineness (30.44%).
LMR Shichiro 2403Z has an impressive set of maternal BREEDPLAN figures. He is in the top 10% for Birth Weight EBV (-0.5), and in the top third of the breed for marbling traits. As you can see from the carcass image (shown) of a half-sib to 2403Z, LMR Shigeshigetani 8183U produced a 43.15% IMF ribeye, proving again that the influence of Shigeshigetani as a marbling sire.
In addition, 2403’s SCD is AA an d a Tenderness of 3 – if you are considering a moderate growth, good marbling and easy calving bull, then look no further than what this emerging star can offer.
TESTED FREE of all known Wagyu Genetic Defects. Owned by Imperial Beef. Semen interest retained by Lone Mountain.
LMR Yasufuku 2416Z was sired by Yasufuku Jr, the #2 Sire for IMF in the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, averaging 33.46% with 36 carcasses imaged and data calculated by Dr. Kuchida’s software program. Yasufuku Jr is also the #2 IMF Dam Sire with an average 34.35% IMF and the leading Dam Sire for Marble Fineness (32.74).
WKS Yasufuku Jr is a linebred bull, like his sire Yasufuku J930 traces three times to Yasumi Doi J10328. Yasufuku Jr’s dam sire, is Monjiro 11550, also sired by Yasumi Doi,. Yasufuku Jr is 100% Tajima, as was Yasufuku J930. He was born September 2, 1997 in Tottori Prefecture, Japan and exported to the US as a bull calf by the Mannett Group.
LMR Ms Kitaguni 8109U, dam of 2416Z, has contributed some great marbling to our meat program as shown in the carcass image of her daughter, LMR Ms Haruki 3564A – the older sibling of 2416Z. 8109U’s sire, Kitaguni 7 8, is perhaps the most famous son of Itozakura – and is known is known to pass on his marbling ability – attested to by his winning nationwide carcass contests four years in a year: 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000; and the sire of record of the Grand Champion at the 2007 Zenkyo.
Kenichi Ono considers Yasufuku Jr’s sire, Yasufuku J930, to be the very best of Wagyu in all of Japan, saying “There is only one Yasufuku and Shigeshigenami”. Further, Ono considers Kitaguni 7 8 as the #3 greatest Wagyu. When offspring of these two great sires are coupled, Lone Mountain believes that extraordinary results follow, as in the case of 2416Z, confirming the “nick’ uncovered during a visit the 2007 Zenkyo (All-Japan Wagyu Competition) – and finding a copy of Ono’s Elite Wagyu of Japan. The importance of the female side of the pedigree cannot be overstated, especially when that female is sired by Kitaguni 7 8.
LMR Yasufuku 2416Z has a fine set of BREEDPLAN figures with a low (top 5%) Birth Weight EBV (-3.3), and top 15% for both Ribeye EBV (+2.1) and Rib Fat EBV (+2.4). Watch his Marble Scores skyrocket over the next few years as his calves begin to be harvested. 2416Z is destined to be a winner. LMR Yasufuku 2416Z has been tested free for all known Wagyu genetic defects. His SCD result is VA and a Tenderness Score of 3.
LMR Yasumasa 2428Z represents the mating “nick” that Lone
Mountain has uncovered, combining the abundance of marbling from WKS Kitaguni Jr with the fineness and richness of marbling from WKS Yasufuku Jr. The grandsires on both sides of the pedigree, Yasufuku J930 and Kitaguni 7 8, have been identified, admired and revered by Kenichi Ono – naming them #1 and #3 greatest Wagyu in Japan, respectively. We are privileged in the West to have proven sons of such caliber from these two major sires of the Black Wagyu breed. The coupling of the two often results in extraordinary animals – and we at Lone Mountain have seen the signs of achievement on a spectacular scale.
Even though 2428Z is a Carrier of CL-16 (like his sire, WKS Yasufuku Jr, and his grandsire, Yasufuku J930), he shows great promise, and we have been using him as a cover bull with great success. A Carrier animal shows no physical symptoms of disease and appear normal – two copies of the recessive allele must be present (an Affected calf ) before an animal shows symptoms of the recessive disease. As long as the heifers and cows that he covers are not CL-16 Carriers, there is no possibility of producing an Affected calf.
Although not yet reached his prime, 2428Z has a bright future ahead of him as evidenced by the result of the ribeye image of his half-sib LMR Yasufuku 3487A (also out of Kitaguni Jr dam), showing an outstanding IMF of 44.89%. 3487A was also a Carrier of the CL-16 allele. We anticipate great carcass results to be reported from the abattoir from 2428Z.
LMR Yasumasa 2428Z has the ideal set of BREEDPLAN figures as a heifer bull. He is in the TOP 1% for Birth Weight EBV (-2.7), top 4% for Rib Fat EBV (+1.4) and Rump Fat EBV (+2.3) and above breed average for Marble Score.
LMR Yasumasa 2428Z has been tested Free for the F11, B3, and CHS recessive genetic allele. As mentioned above, he is a Carrier of CL-16. His SCD result is AA and a Tenderness Score of 6.
LMR Hiroyuki 3492A is a prime example of the great Yasufuku lineage. Kenichi Ono considers Yasufuku Jr’s sire, Yasufuku J930, to be the very best of Tajima breeding – and says, “There is only one Yasufuku and Shigeshigenami”. Ono pronounced him the “most well-balanced bull of all Wagyu” and used the words “ultimate” and “perfection” to describe Yasufuku’s meat. In a 2009 press release by Kinki University, Yasufuku J930 was called “Sire of Hida Ushi” because he was “one of the most important sires in the history of Japanese Black Wagyu for its breeding achievements.” As such, Yasufuku was the originator of world-famous Hida-gyu (aka Hida) beef.
Hiroyuki 3492A’s grandfather, WKS Yasufuku Jr is the #2Sire in the 2017 Lone Mountain’s Sire Performance Study, averaging 33.46% IMF with 36 carcasses imaged and data calculated by Dr. Kuchida’s software program. Yasufuku Jr is also the #2 IMF Dam Sire for IMF in our study with an average 34.08% based on 36 carcasses.
BREEDPLAN estimates that Yasufuku Jr is a Trait Leader and ranks in the top 1% of the breed for both Birth Weight EBV (-3.1) and Rump Fat EBV (+2.6). He is also a Trait Leader and ranks in the top 3% for Ribeye Area (EMA) EBV (+3.5), and in the top 2% for Rib Fat EBV (+1.5). Also, according to the 2014 US Sire Summary, 3492A’s sire, Bar R Yasufuku 42K, is ranked as the #2 Marbling Sire.
Hiroyuki 3492A’s dam, LMR Ms Michifuku 783T, is an example of a great union between two dominant Wagyu sires: WKS Michifuku and JVP Fukutsuru 068. 783T produced 15 offspring for Lone Mountain, including our premier Itoshigenami TF148 sire, LMR Aoichi 2468Z.
3492A’s Ribeye Area EBV (+2.6) is in the top 10% of the greater Wagyu herd outside Japan. More importantly, 3492A’s Birth Weight EBV (-1.4) ranks in the top 3%, making him an excellent Heifer Sire prospect – one would expect him to throw very lightweight calves.

LMR Taisuke 401B was sired by LMR Koichi 1409Y and importantly, the result of a half-sib mating to BR Ms Yasufuku 0645.
LMR Taisuke 401B’s paternal great grandsire was Kitaguni 7 8. Kitaguni 7 8 was a significant Fujiyoshi/Shimane/Itozakura sire and perhaps the most famous son of Dai 7 Itozakura J65. Kitaguni 7 8 was considered by Kenichi Ono to be “the finest of all Kedaka cows”.
LMR Taisuke 401B is a grandson of WKS Kitaguni Jr – WKS Kitaguni Jr ranks in the top 1% of all sires tested by BREEDPLAN for Marble Score (EBV +1.4) and Birth Weight (EBV -2.7). In the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, Kitaguni Jr ranks 5th for Marble Fineness as Sire (30.44 based on 61 carcasses) and 3rd as Dam Sire (30.28 based on 16 images studied) – and 1st as Dam Sire for IMF (34.35%). He ranks 4th as Sire for IMF (31.73%) – behind his son (and sire of 401B), LMR Koichi 1409Y (33.25 based on 7 images) who makes his first appearance as 3rd highest ranked sire in this year’s study and WKS Yasufuku Jr. In addition, Koichi 1409Y ranks 3rd as Sire for Marble Fineness (31.56) – ahead of his father, Kitaguni Jr and LMR Yojimbo. See evidence of 1409Y’s ability in the photograph of his progeny, a heifer (4292B) measuring 42.90% IMF.
Taisuke 401B’s sire (Koichi 1409Y) and his dam (LMR MS Itoshigefuji 0182) both share the same dam, BR Ms Yasufuku 0645 whose sire was Yasufuku Jr – a superb carcass sire imported from Japan and whose sire was Yasufuku J930, ranked #1 by Kenichi Ono in his well-researched tome, Outstanding Wagyu of Japan.
0645 has been one of Lone Mountain’s best performers – she has produced some of the ranch’s highest grading carcasses, including 8166U (50.2% IMF) and 8167U (39.1% IMF) both sired by Kitaguni Jr – and 9373W (36.77% IMF) sired by LMR Yojimbo 634S.
In the 2017 LMCC Study, referenced above, WKS Yasufuku Jr is the #2 Sire for IMF (33.46%) with 36 carcasses imaged and data calculated by Dr. Kuchida’s software program. Yasufuku Jr is also the #2 Dam Sire for both IMF (34.08%) and 1st for Marble Fineness (32.74) based on 36 carcasses.

LMR Katsuru 4278B is an example of outstanding genetics like LMR Yasumasa 2428Z but the combination in reverse – Kitaguni Jr x Yasufuku Jr vs Yasufuku Jr x Kitaguni Jr. This is an illustration of a perfect mating “nick” that Lone Mountain discovered while visiting Japan – a combination of the abundance of marbling from Kitaguni 7 8, the fineness of marbling from Yasufuku Jr, culminating with the ribeye power of Sanjirou.
Katsuru 4278B was sired by WKS Kitaguni Jr, a son of Kitaguni 7 8. Kenichi Ono opines that Kitaguni 7 8 was one of the three greatest Wagyu in all of Japan and considers Yasufuku Jr’s sire, Yasufuku J930, to be the very best of Tajima breeding.
Kitaguni 7 8 is a significant Fujiyoshi/Shimane/Itozakura sire and perhaps the most famous son of Dai 7 Itozakura J65. He was born February 5, 1984 in Shimane Prefecture. As his name suggests, Kitaguni 7 8 was the 8th calf of its dam, Kitaguni 7 – who was considered by Ono-san to be “the finest of all Kedaka cows”.
Katsuru 4278B shows WKS Yasufuku Jr as his dam sire. WKS Yasufuku Jr is a linebred bull, like his sire Yasufuku J930, and traces three times to Yasumi Doi J10328. His dam sire, also sired by Yasumi Doi, is Monjiro 11550. Yasufuku Jr is 100% Tajima, as was Yasufuku J930. He was born September 2, 1997 in Tottori Prefecture, Japan and was the last bull (calf ) exported by Mannett to the US in 1997.
The three primary sires in Katsuru’s pedigree – WKS Kitaguni Jr, WKS Yasufuku Jr, and WKS Sanjirou – dominate the 2017 LMCC Sire Performance Study, occupying the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions on Sire and Dam Sire rankings on all 4 categories: IMF; Marble Fineness; REA; and USDA Grading. Quite a trio of outstanding sires according to LMCC research, based on objective carcass data.
The image shown is a full sib to Katsuru 4278B (4293B – 40.39% IMF). Three other full siblings were harvested and resulted in finely marbled carcasses: 4298B @ 35.78%; 4265B @ 38.27%; and 4259B @ 31.55% IMF.

LMR Hayao 5549C is the first AA 10 bull we have produced and the only one represented in this guide.
LMR Hayao 5549C is an 18-month-old sired by LMR Kenichi 807T, son of WKS Michifuku, the superb carcass sire imported from Japan. 807T is a brilliant composite bull, a Tajima/Itozakura/Shimane cross. Kenichi 807T was named in honor of the exceptional writer Kenichi Ono, who produced the classic text on Wagyu, The Outstanding Wagyu of Japan. 807T’s maternal side is linebred to Dai 7 Itozakura, a Japanese bull known for his amazing growth traits was so famous that his picture was placed on a telephone card. 807T’s grand-dam sire, Kenryu is a highly regarded bull from Shimane Prefecture. His dam, WKS Nakazakura, is a half-sib of Jerry Reeves’ highly regarded Bar R Nakagishiro 56T.
5549C has solid World Ks breeding behind him with a Takeda marvel, TF Itohana 2 (grandson of Dai 7 Itozakura), as his dam sire. Itohana’s BREEDPLAN figures rank him in the top 3% of all Fullblood Wagyu Sires outside Japan with a Fullblood Terminal Index of $274. With the strong influence of the “Michifuku” genetics, the legacy of “Doi” family and their renowned meat quality traits is established. Evidence of Michifuku’s abilities as a sire is shown at right (4337B).
5549C’s dam, LMR Ms Itohana 9264W, is a 7-year-old with potential. She has had 5 progeny to date (all males except one daughter, 4341B, who has been retained in the LMR breeding herd). 9264W’s performance figures are exceptional, with a top 1% ranking for both Milk EBV (+10) and Rump Fat EBV (+3.3) – and a top 4% ranking for both Rib Fat EBV (+1.4) and a Birth Weight EBV (-0.8).
In addition, his SCD result is AA and his Tenderness: 10. 5549C was the first Lone Mountain-bred bull tested to achieve such an impressive result.
5549C was sold in the 2017 LMCC Production Sale with Lone Mountain retaining an interest only in the semen collected prior to the sale.
LMR Harukichi 5106C is the product of two illustrious sire lines coming together: Kitateruyasudoi J2810 ETJ 003 and WKS Shigeshigetani.
Kitateruyasudoi J2810 is a son of Terunaga Doi J1472, a preeminent sire of the historical Tajima/Tajiri line and the most famous son of Kikuteru Doi (who occupies both sides of ETJ003’s pedigree). Kitateruyasudoi also traces back to Yasumi Doi J10328 three times. Kenichi Ono referenced ETJ003’s sire, saying “After Terunaga Doi, there is no other bull within sight with the potential of Yasumi Doi or Yasutani Doi in all of Hyogo Prefecture.”
Terunaga Doi lived to be 16 1⁄2 years old, producing over 20,000 progeny – a stone monument was built to honor his heritage. He was known all over Japan primarily as a dam sire, passing on great maternal traits. When he was euthanized in 2002, he was compared favorably to Yasumi Doi, Kikuteru Doi and Tanifuku Doi.
BREEDPLAN figures demonstrate his abilities, ranking Kitateruyasudoi ETJ003 as a Trait Leader and in the top 2% for Birth Weight EBV (-1.6) and in the top 1% for Gestation Length EBV (-2.3). Kitateruyasudoi is in the top 1% for Marble Fineness EBV (+0.50) and in the top 2% for Marble Score EBV (+1.1). These figures are based on 69 carcass images and 745 scanned progeny – the percentile rankings include over 60,000 Wagyu worldwide (ex-Japan) – and the accuracy levels are in the nineties ~90%. In addition, Harukichi’s dam sire, Shigeshigetani is a Trait Leader in Birthweight EBV (-1.5) ranking him in the top 5% of Wagyu Fullblood Sires.
5106C’s dam, LMR Ms Shigeshigetani 9226W, is one of Lone Mountain’s most productive donors who at seven years of age has over 20 progeny including several full sibs to 5106C who are active in the Lone Mountain herd as replacement females.
Although still very much in his youth, it should be expected that Harukichi 5106C’s genetic makeup will be unveiled as a highly regarded calving ease and marbling bull. 5106C’s BREEDPLAN pedigree EBVs plot him in the top 10% for Marble Fineness (+0.26) and in the top 20% for Marble Score EBV +0.6 of the Fullblood Wagyu herd (outside Japan).
